Induction Cooktop FAQs

Q: Can I use my old pots and pans on an induction cooktop?

A: Only if they have a magnetic base. Cast iron and most stainless steel are fine—copper, glass, and aluminium won’t work unless they’re specifically designed for induction.

Q: Do I Need To Upgrade My Circuit?

Depending on the induction cooktop you select, you may need to upgrade your cabling.
Most induction cooktops draw around 30 Amps, so a 6mm2 cable is usually sufficient.

Q: How Do I know If an Induction Cooktop will be suitable for my kitchen?

A: Sarros offers free site inspections.
We will check your cabling and switchboard and give you our recommendation.

Q: Are induction cooktops safe for children?

A: Absolutely! The surface stays cool except under the pan, and most models have child locks. Just always supervise young kids in the kitchen.

Q: What happens during a power outage?

A: Induction cooktops, like all electric appliances, won’t work without power. If blackouts are common where you live, consider a backup plan for those rare occasions.
